The past February 5th the cocktail event of the launching of the book Selling Botero by Felipe Grimberg took place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Bogota, Colombia, it was a huge success with the presence of Fernando Botero and Sophia Vari. It was a rewarding experience for all of us, after many years working on this project, now is a fact; this is just the beginning of many successes coming in this journey.
We are proud to announce the upcoming publication of the book Selling Botero by Felipe Grimberg, edited by Paola Gribaudo, and published by Silvana Editoriale.
Working as an art dealer for more than 28 years, Felipe Grimberg has sold more than 400 artworks from renowned Colombian artist, Fernando Botero.
This book includes illustrations of almost all these works. It also provides the story of Felipe’s career and tells of his journey in the art world and the true nature of a dealer’s relationship with an artist.
Today has opened the exhibition Fernando Botero. Una Celebración at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao. The exhibition will be open from October 8th until January 20th, 2013 and is one of the most important shows that the Museum has had. It opened with great welcome and reception by the public and the specialized press.
The exhibition has been curated by Lina Botero, who choose a vast selection of works that were part of the recent exhibition at the Palacio de Bellas Artes de México (March-June, 2012). It is a comprehensive exhibition and presents a path of the artist’s work during the past 60 years.
The show is composed of 85 works, from painting to sculpture. A sculpture of the Monumental horse is on exhibition. There are also works with bullfighting themes, circus, still lifes and homages to great masters of classical painting: “After Ingres,””After Velázquez,” etc.
The exhibition, which has been sponsored by BBK, is accompanied by a catalogue written by Carlos Fuentes and Mario Vargas Llosa. The Chairman of BBK, the Ambassador of Colombia in Spain, Orlando Sardi de Lima, and the Director of the Museum of fine arts of Bilbao, Javier Viar Olloqui, were present at the opening, among other guests.
